Elizabeth Buccino holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculptural Studies and Art Education and a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). Elizabeth’s commitment to arts education began in Baltimore, where she volunteered with the Police Athletic League’s After School Outreach Program, interned in the Baltimore Museum of Art’s Education Department, and worked as a studio assistant for a local sculptor. While developing her own studio practice, she continued to engage with children through community outreach initiatives. After moving to Nantucket, Elizabeth became an AAN artist member in 2002. In 2014, she began teaching children and developing after-school ceramics programming, as well as mixed media and ceramics programs for Nantucket New School’s Studio to School initiative. She became AAN’s Director of Education in 2023, leading the development of year-round arts programming for children, teens, and adults. She oversees curriculum development, instructor recruitment, departmental budgets, and strategic planning, while managing AAN’s Artist-in-Residence program and grant-funded initiatives. Through her leadership, Elizabeth is dedicated to expanding access to the arts, supporting teaching artists, and fostering creative growth and meaningful community connections across Nantucket.
