Course Description

This playful 3-day workshop is all about exploration. Through a wide variety of mark-making techniques—drawing, spilling, dripping, dragging, imprinting, collaging (and more)—you’ll discover what feels natural and exciting to you. The focus is on letting go of control, getting out of your own way, and allowing the materials to guide you as you develop a small series of abstract or figurative works.
With step-by-step support from Jackie, you’ll learn key principles of design and composition while experimenting with a process of construction, deconstruction, and reconstruction. Along the way, we’ll look at inspiring slides of contemporary and historical artists who use cutting, ripping, masking, glazing, and layering to create depth and intrigue in their work.
Come ready to play, experiment, and push your creative boundaries.

All levels welcome.
