Open to all skill levels! We will be stressing the various ways to get you through to a finished artwork by simplifying a landscape, big sky, and other imagery. We will be working on blocking in composition, setting values, rendering and color using either oils or acrylics. The course will include quick demos, discussions and individual suggestions and is designed for beginners-intermediate painters. Please see materials list for new paint brush information.

We all know that studio paintbrushes are notoriously unsatisfactory as it is a constant challenge to have everyone keeping them up to snuff! In the interest of establishing a more satisfying experience for all, AAN will now be asking painting students to purchase a small set of their own paintbrushes. In this way, everyone can maintain their own brushes during class and can take them home to continue their painting at home. Which brushes to buy is a matter of personal preference but if you are looking for a basic, economical set to buy, there are two sets listed below that you can purchase online from Dick Blick or Jerry’s Artarama. Create on Amelia also sells brushes.
You may also purchase the set from AAN for $45 (including tax), simply email gillian@nantucketarts.org to arrange payment to reserve a set and they will be waiting for you when you arrive for your first class.
