Jenny Hersh

I am an artist and educator with roots on the East Coast but always on the move to wherever art, community and teaching take me. I connect deeply and quickly to many people and places. My work is site-responsive to each move, a braid of stories. I am drawn to ubiquitous and accessible mediums that can be explored in the tiny homes, rented rooms, host homes and boats I have resided in. Currently, I am expanding my practice of hand-cut paper and shadow puppetry which I grew up with in a family shadow puppet troupe. I am motivated by collaborations with musicians, educators, artists and neighbors. I have brought my sculpture, printmaking and paper cutting to Storm King Art Center, the Fabric Workshop and Museum, the Redwood State and National Parks, Pyramid Atlantic Art Center, the Martha's Vineyard Museum and other national and international organizations, through both residencies and freelance teaching.
