Course Description

In this class students will learn basic animation techniques using a variety of media such as chalk, paper cut-outs, clay, and more! Students will get to watch their creations come to life with an assortment of materials they might find at home. This class focuses on fun, hands-on, and accessible animation projects to help inspire students to continue to create on their own, without the need for expensive equipment or programs. All that’s needed is a little patience and a lot of imagination!

Animation Fun, Ages 9-12

Sammy Aguiar

Samantha is an artist and animator from Nantucket. From a young age she has always loved to create and express her ideas through art. She earned her BA in Studio Arts from the University of Vermont in 2012 and went on to earn her Master's in Animation from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2013, where she worked on a collaborative 3D animated short film "Snowboat." Since then she has worked in freelance animation, illustration, teaching, and webcomics. She finds a lot of joy in using different media to tell engaging stories. She has just moved back to Nantucket and will be teaching Digital and Traditional Animation classes.
