Maureen Stavola

I am inspired by the colors and patterns in nature and seek to capture its beauty and create the emotions that they invoke. I strive for an understated approach and a restrained balance of form and color without any single overpowering feature. I work in oils and prepare my canvas by layering color upon color and texture upon texture until I am satisfied with the result. I feel fortunate to not only know what my calling and my talent is, but to be able to live it.

I am self-taught and have had the hon_or of studying at the Incammanati School in Philadelphia, a_s well as, attending numerous workshops. I have also had the good fortune of wonderful-acclaimed teachers. My influences include: Wolf Kahn, Ann Packard, Edward Hopper, David Hockney and Richard Diebenkorn. I travel among New Jersey, North Carolina, Florida and Nantucket and my art is displayed at the galleries in each state.
