Katie Mack Castle was born and raised on Nantucket, where she leaned ceramics from Lori Garrabrant. A lifelong love of art, history and storytelling led her to study Illustration and English Literature at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. She now combines illustration and design with ceramics to create functional yet unique pieces.
My main goal in creating ceramics is not only to make something with a design that is successfully executed and unique, but is also fully functional and is able to be used in everyday life. My inspirations come from everywhere in music, art, books, music, nature and history. All designs are hand painted with underglaze without the use of stencils or transfers, and are always food safe.
