Debranne Cingari (American, b. 1963) is an American-Italian photographer and mixed media artist exploring beauty, emotion, and memory through storytelling. Photographing and exhibiting since age 17, her work reflects over four decades of artistic inquiry.
For 25+ years, Nantucket’s shifting light, hidden landscapes, and natural textures have inspired her photography, capturing the island’s soul through quiet, often unseen places.
Her images blend photographic clarity with found objects that add whimsy and narrative depth. Exhibited nationally and internationally, highlights include Villa Carlotta (Italy), Grand Palais (Paris), Cavalier Galleries (Nantucket), Art Miami, and Art Palm Beach.
Awards include honors from Salmagundi Art Club and Photographer’s Forum Magazine. Her work is held in collections such as The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Cantor Fitzgerald, Stamford Museum, and Lola 41 Boston.
Debranne teaches and mentors in art and photography and is a member of Salmagundi Art Club, Carriage Barn Arts Center Artist Association, and Nantucket Artists Association.
She creates from her lakeside Connecticut studio and Nantucket, inviting viewers to discover quiet moments and the poetic beauty of place.
For the past 25 years, Nantucket has been a central part of my life and the heart of my creative work. Its raw beauty, ever-changing light, and quiet, often hidden corners continue to inspire me every day. As a photographer, I’m especially drawn to the lesser-seen sides of the island—those tucked-away places that feel like well-kept secrets, discovered only by those who slow down and truly look.
Creating art brings me joy. Being surrounded by beauty, capturing it through my lens, and expressing how it moves me—that’s what fuels my work. Photography allows me to experience the world more deeply and offers a way to share that experience with others.
At times, I pair my images with found objects—simple elements that naturally complement the photograph and add a whimsical, conversational quality. These touches add depth and invite connection.
Through my work, I hope to highlight not just the iconic views of Nantucket, but the quiet, soulful places that have captured my heart—and to offer others a glimpse into the beauty I’ve been lucky enough to witness.
