Schöntzeler joined the AAN in 1952 and served on the executive board from 1954 to 1957. He was an early, regular exhibitor in the Little Gallery, and he owned the Elbow Lane Gift Shop and Gallery in Siasconset during the ‘40’s and ‘50’s. He worked mostly in pencils and watercolor.
