Sarah Perry Crane

1916-2002

Crane hailed from Rochester, New York, and bought a house on Tuckernuck in 1964. She painted mostly Tuckernuck scenes after that time, and she showed at The Main Street Gallery and the AAN’s Kenneth Taylor Galleries.

Mrs. Crane was an accomplished artist who started painting still-lifes and portraits when she lived in Rochester. After the Cranes bought a house on Tuckernuck in 1963 she began to paint landscapes of Tuckernuck and Nantucket. Many of her paintings were displayed and sold at The Little Gallery and at The Main Street Gallery in Nantucket.

Mrs. Crane loved Nantucket and her paintings expressed that love. Many admirers looked forward to her exhibitions and collected her work. Other artists and gallery owners still remember what a joy it was to work with her.
