1932-2007

Born in Erie Pennsylvania, Kemble taught for almost twenty years at the State University of Buffalo and later as a professor at Pratt Institute in New York City.

He gave up academics after receiving one of the first printmaker’s fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts in 1974. He lived in Key West and Nantucket, exhibiting at the Main Street Gallery.
