Mary Turlay Robinson

1888-1971

Robinson graduated from Vassar College and later attended the Art Students League of New York, studying with Frank Vincent Dumond, Robert Henri and George Luks. She then joined summer classes at the School of Fine Arts in Fontainbleau, France, to study decorative art and fresco painting with Despajols and Beaudouin.

In 1933, Robinson came to Nantucket and became a summer resident of Siasconset, and an active participant in the island’s artist colony. She exhibited at the Candle House Studio and at the Easy Street Gallery; later at the Kenneth Taylor Gallery as a member of AAN.
