Hubert G. Ripley was a Boston architect who summered on island in the the 1920s and 1930s.

Ripley is famous for:
The “Stotham” Hoax: Ripley famously invented Stotham, a fake Massachusetts town. He wrote an entire architectural monograph about it for the White Pine Series, which fooled historians for decades!
