Both Helen and her sister Irma are listed as exhibitors in the 1937 catalogue for the Easy Street Gallery. She was a student of Frank Swift Chase, later donating two of his paintings to the Permanent Collection in 1961.
Wheaton College currently owns the 1932 portrait of Cole by Alfred Everett Smith.
