ART CLASSES EVENTS

Course Description

Students will paint from memory and imagination, using basic color theory to inject emotion and feeling into their paintings. This class will include demonstrations on color mixing and an introduction to using color charts. This class is especially suited for oil painters but can also accommodate acrylic and watercolor.

AAN is able to provide scholarships/tuition aid through the Healing Through the Creative Arts Program. This program is made possible through funding from the Town of Nantucket Human Services Department. For questions or assistance please contact Elizabeth Buccino, Director of Education

AAN depends upon student tuition to continue to offer classes and workshops. Due to our commitment to small class sizes and the hands-on nature of art education, we are greatly impacted by cancellations. Nevertheless, we do understand that plans change. Rosemary Joy Glidden

Rosemary Joy Glidden was born on Nantucket Island. Her work reflects a deep connection with the natural world and a constant search for belonging. Working predominantly with oil paint on canvas, paper, or wood, Rosemary often immerses herself in the landscapes she portrays, responding directly to her surroundings. While her paintings initially present as serene expanses of color and shape, closer inspection reveals intricate surface treatments, with layers of paint meticulously applied, scraped, and manipulated to evoke a tactile sense of reality. Her work has been supported by a residency at Vashon Artist Residency in March 2024. Rosemary earned a BFA in Fibers from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2015 and an MFA in Painting at the New York Studio School in 2023, where she was recognized with the Jane C. Carroll Scholarship for her exceptional talent.
