In this class, students will learn to draw the human head and face from life. Through multiple live demonstrations as well as one on one critiques, students will be taught the principles of proportion, form, tonal relationships, and how to capture the character of the subject.

Lisa's teaching is based on the classical drawing techniques of the old masters of Rome and Paris.  Students will work from the model using charcoal, conte crayon and basic drawing materials.  This is a great opportunity even if you have never done portraiture.  All levels welcome!

Students will begin and maintain a practice of easy and simple daily sketching. For beginners on up, this mindful practice will build drawing skills, increase eye/hand coordination, and develop the innate ability to see with an artistic eye. By maintaining this practice, students will each create a their own sketchbook journal that will serve as a visual record of their artistic path and provide reference material for future creativity. The simple materials are: an 81/2 x 11” hardbound sketchbook with white 70 lb. paper, 4 graphite pencils (#HB, 2B, 4B, 6B), a kneaded eraser and a pencil sharpener.

This workshop will begin with a demonstration on the use of photo collage, and mixed media in painting. Materials will include oil and acrylic paint, paper, ink, oil stick and wax mediums. Inspiration is derived from the combination of multiple images to create abstracted environments and works that focus on visual memory. Class participants will have the opportunity to work with these techniques during the workshop and are encouraged to bring a variety of imagery in the form of ink jet prints or color copies of photographs as well as found images / objects from a variety of sources. This is an experimental workshop. All levels of experience and ages are welcome.

Come and work in the Printmaking studio independently as your schedule permits.  Its the perfect way to spend time and work on techniques, editioning, and imagery.

Studio is open Monday through Friday 9 - 5 and evenings till 8 pm except Thursdays.  No need to register.  Pay at the door.

This demonstration of oil painting will start with a discussion about working from a photograph versus plein air painting. I will explain my pallet, the medium that I use, the toning of my canvass, and how I pull the tone of the canvass into the painting itself. As I paint an oil sketch, I will discuss my process and answer questions, ensuring that it will be an engaging and enjoyable experience for the audience. I will have several examples of my work with me for the audience to view.
