SEEING through TIME

THE PROJECT
A new initiative made possible through generous collaboration with the Nantucket Historical Association, St Paul's Church, the Maria Mitchell Association, and the Egan Maritime Institute.

SEEING THROUGH 2020  uses the power of art to open history and imbue meaning into our collective present experience. This year during the pandemic, as we shelter and socially distance, Nantucketers have been physically closed off from so many historical places from which we draw strength. Now, by collaborating with different non-profits, we can create a visual voice to unite our island community during a disconnected time. We will explore themes like time, endurance, shelter, and distance, as we look to heal our pandemic-disrupted lives and create a tangible, creative documentation. Although the need to heal and find meaning is explored by “Seeing through Time,” the AAN hopes this endeavor will inspire future collaboratives with our historical organizations, as the positive lessons we learn from history do bear repeating.
