AGES 2–5 - ONE DAY CLASSES

Family Art Class
with Bethany Oliver
Meets every Tuesday & Thurdays from July 11–August 24. 
Take one, or take them all! 
Tuesdays & Thursdays, 3–4 p.m. 

$20 per day, $10 for members.
Our youngest artists, and their caregivers, will explore various multimedia art stations at their own pace in this inspiring class.

Designed for students entering grades 1–3.

Art Camp

Weekly Tuition: $240. Materials: $50.

Explore creative possibilities of all kinds: drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, fiber arts, and much more. Campers will explore a new theme each week, so join us for more than one week of fun!

AGES 6–9 - WEEKLY CLAY CAMPS

Clay Camp
with Elizabeth Buccino
Monday–Friday, 1–3 p.m.
Weekly Tuition: $190. Materials: $50.
Students will explore traditional hand building techniques to create fun and unique pieces of art inspired by art history, nature, and their own imagination. Clay Camp is different from week to week, so join us for more than one week of messy fun!
Please note, we are unable to offer glazing during Clay Camp. Students should also register for a Glaze Fest class if they will like to glaze their work.

Clay Camp Glaze Fest Classes
Session 1: Monday, August 28, 1–3 p.m.
Session 2: Tuesday, August 29, 1–3 p.m.
Per Session: $30.
These one-day glaze classes are open to all clay camp students who would like to paint their pieces with traditional ceramic glazes.

 

AGES 9–12 - WEEKLY WORKSHOPS
Designed for students entering grades 4–7.

Weekly from July 5–August 26
Monday–Friday, 9–11:30 p.m.
Weekly Tuition: $240. Materials: $50.
In this summer-long workshop series, students will get hands-on experience with both traditional and non-traditional art making techniques. Explore a different art medium each week!

July 5–7 - Wearable Art
with John Carruthers
Students will explore printing, painting, and dyeing on tee-shirts, bags, and more…as well as exploring the concept of recycled clothing with finds from our local second hand stores. July 5-7 - Tuition is pro-rated for the shorter week, please see details at regsitration. 

July 10–14 - Learn to Draw
with John Caruthers
Pencil, charcoal, conté crayon, and more will be explored as we learn classic skills that will help you make complete drawings from observation or imagination.

July 17–21- Plein Air Sketching & Painting
with John Carruthers
Explore the outdoors through art! Students will be guided to nearby outdoor locations to explore sketching and painting the natural world, as well as exploring perspective.

July 24–28 - Exploring Painting
with John Carruthers
Watercolor, gouache, and acrylics will be explored while observing color from life and using it intuitively as a tool for personal expression.

July 31–August 4 - Sculpture
with John Carruthers
Masks, kinetic art with moving parts, and figurative pieces will be explored with an emphasis on creative problem solving and technical skills.

August 7–11 - Doll Making
with Michelle Housel
Come learn basic sewing techniques with Michelle Housel of Dancey Pants Disco and learn the secrets of making your own cloth doll. In this class, students will hand sew and stuff a doll to personalize. We will explore different sewing techniques and ways to make simple accessories for the doll we create. Whether you are making this doll for yourself or a loved one, it will easily become a trusted companion on daily adventures.

August 14-18 - Intro to Printmaking
with Alei Foster
Expand your horizons with the exciting possibilities of this extremely versatile and varied media. From craft applications to one-of-a-kind creations, printmaking is an open ended, never exhausted media. Multi-color block prints, anything-goes collagraphs, and painterly monoprints and more will be explored.

August 21-25 - Clay Sculpture
with Elizabeth Buccino
Students will explore traditional sculpture and hand-building techniques to create fun and unique pieces of art inspired by art history, nature, and their own imagination.

Illustration

July 5–7 
Using pencils, paint, ink and many other traditional materials students will explore creating imaginative images in this fun new illustration workshop.

Digital Comics
with Nicci Aguiar
Session 1: July 10–14
Session 2: August 7–11
Digital Comics offers a different take on how to create comic pages and strips. Students will explore a digital arts program and learn to create their own pages and stories.
 
Digital Painting
with Nicci Aguiar
Session 1: July 17–21
Session 2: August 14–18 
Using computer software, Clip Studio, explore the different tools it offers and how to create still lives, self-portraits, landscapes and color characters in this new digital coloring and painting class.
 
Hand-Drawn Comic Strips
with Nicci Aguiar
Session 1: July 31–August 4
Session 2: August 21–25
Using traditional hand-drawn techniques and materials, students will create their own imaginative comic strips. We’ll explore how different panels and shots can be used to make fun and creative stories.

Film & Video
with Juliette Sutherland
July 24–28
Join us for this exciting new workshop exploring documentary style film making and creative video production. Students will explore story telling techniques and develop cinematography and editing skills. Those interested in narrative film are encouraged too!


AGES 10–14 - WHEELTHROWING CLASSES with Tracy Daily
Explore the pottery wheel in these fun and messy classes! Beginners will explore the basics, while more advanced students will explore more challenging techniques.

Drawing Downtown for Ages 13–18

Explore classic techniques of perspective, the figure, and plein air sketching while capturing the excitement of a Nantucket’s downtown summer street scene.
Please note: Drop Off & Pick Up for this class will take place at our gallery at 19 Washington St. 

Morning Wheelthrowing for Ages 15–18
with Tracy Daily
Tuesdays, 9:30 a.m.–12 p.m.
July 11–August 22
Tuition: $325. Materials: $50.

Oil Painting for Ages 13–18 - NEW START DATE - JULY 12

Wednesdays, 6–8:30 p.m.
July 12–August 9
Tuition: $235. Materials: $50.
Explore the richness of color and the varieties of brushstroke and texture that is specific to working in water-mixable oils. The proper care of professional artistic media will also be covered in this exciting introduction to oil painting.

Drawing: Portrait & The Clothed Figure for Ages 15–18 - NEW START DATE - JULY 13
with Alei Foster
Thursdays, 6–8:30 p.m.
July 13–August 10
Tuition: $235. Materials: $50.
Local artist Alei Foster will introduce students to her unique way of approaching the human portrait and clothed figure. Students will work with a live model each week, developing their drawing skills while working in different drawing mediums.
