Artists Association of Nantucket offers a wide variety of special events throughout the year from free outdoor art shows to online art auctions to our painting festival.
Join us for our popular fund-raising events, including Spring Sweep Online 2021, the 2021 Gala Dinner & Auction in summer, and Wet Paint 2021 in the fall.
You may also wish to participate in our public programming events including artist demonstrations, the historic Sidewalk Art Shows, and the Plein Air Nantucket Festival.

The Artist Association of Nantucket will honor a treasured artist at this year’s special Auction on July 17, 2021. We encourage you to buy tables and tickets in order to support the Artists Association.

Sidewalk Art Shows 2021

A beloved tradition dating back to 1930, the Sidewalk Art Show is the oldest of its kind in the U.S. and is a wonderful opportunity to meet a bevy of Nantucket’s finest artists.
Free to the public. Come one come all.

Plein Air Nantucket 2021

This year we are shifting to a six-week festival running May 11 through June 16 — no sign-up required, no fee to participate, no stamping of canvases. Great fun at a distance! Open to all painters, the outdoor painting festival features artists in the landscape. their new wet works hung for sale each day in the AAN Gallery starting May 28th. Our 10th annual Paint Out at Brant Point beach: two days – June 9 and 10, starts at 10 a.m. and open to all artists, rain date June 11.

C. Robert Perrin Master Artist Demonstrations

In tribute to C. Robert Perrin, a longtime artist member and nationally recognized watercolorist, AAN hosts at least two Master Artist Demonstrations per season. The art demonstrations are usually held in the same style that Perrin did his.

The Artists Association of Nantucket has a long history of collaborating with other local nonprofit organizations and businesses in the Nantucket community. Sharing resources is one of the best ways to bring the arts and culture to island residents. From exhibitions shared with the Nantucket Historical Association to children’s classes with Nantucket S.T.A.R. to art therapy classes with the Fairwinds Center to participating in the One Book One Island Week with the Nantucket Atheneum and many island nonprofits and businesses, AAN realizes the importance of working together to provide creative public programming. We continue online for Spring Sweep 2021 — Just Add Water
In 2020 we held a successful online auction of almost 300 artworks by AAN artists. In 2021, we will continue with this format. Starting March 31 and April 1 for viewing, and going live at 6 AM April 2nd for bidding, then running through Easter weekend, with bidding ending 4 PM on Monday, April 5.
