Artists Association of Nantucket offers a wide variety of special events throughout the year from free outdoor art shows and live art auctions to elegant benefit dinners. Join us for our popular fund-raising events, including Spring Sweep, the Annual Benefit Art Auction & GalaWet Paint / Fresh Works. You may also wish to participate in our public programming events including artist demonstrations, the historic Sidewalk Art Shows, and the Plein Air Nantucket Festival.     The Artist Association of Nantucket will honor beloved Nantucket artist Robert Frazier at the annual Summer Art Auction and Gala on July 18. The annual event will be held at the Great Harbor Yacht Club and celebrates the achievements of our dynamic artist community.

    Wet Paint / Fresh Works features an exciting one-day event where the art is WET and FRESH! In the days leading up to the event, visitors and art lovers are invited to peer over the shoulders of AAN member artists as they fan across the island to complete their work. The just-finished art is then delivered to the Nantucket Yacht Club for a fun and lively sale. A benefit dinner follows the auction.

    Artists Association of Nantucket offers two outdoor art shows every summer. A beloved tradition dating back to 1930, the Sidewalk Art Show is the oldest of its kind in the U.S. and is a wonderful opportunity to meet twenty of Nantucket’s finest artists. The conversations will be memorable as you stroll past rows of fine art, under blue skies and a canopy of green in downtown Nantucket.

    Rain date for each show will be the Sunday of the same weekend.

    Paint Nantucket! – One-day Plein Air Event

    • Monday, June 15, 10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
    • Downtown Nantucket

    On June 15th be a part of the Artists Association of Nantucket’s 75th Anniversary, and paint along the historic harbor waterfront and village streets. Entry fee: $75 includes a Hyline fast ferry ticket from Hyannis at 8:30 a.m., a box lunch, a Nantucket art souvenir, and participation in an advertised and promoted pop-up show of participants art at 3 p.m., leaving enough time to catch a later ferry boat. Plus, if you’re staying on, you get free entrance into the week-long Plein Air Nantucket festival that begins on June 16th.

    In tribute to C. Robert Perrin, a longtime artist member, AAN hosts three Master Artist Demonstrations per season. The demonstrations are held in the same style that Perrin did his, with lots of friendly conversation while the artist is at work. The demonstrations include refreshments. New members are welcome to join the night of the demonstration.

    The Artists Association of Nantucket has a long history of collaborating with other local nonprofit organizations and businesses in the Nantucket community. Sharing resources is one of the best ways to bring the arts and culture to island residents. From exhibitions shared with the Nantucket Historical Association to children’s classes with Nantucket S.T.A.R. to art therapy classes with the Fairwinds Center to participating in the One Book One Island Week with the Nantucket Atheneum and many island nonprofits and businesses, AAN realizes the importance of working together to provide creative public programming.
