Due East: Woodstock Artists on Nantucket

Polly Law     Kate McGloughlin     Jenny Nelson     Christie Scheele

Opens to the public on Wednesday, September 6. Closing Reception: September 22, 6 p.m. Visual Arts Center, 24 Amelia Drive.

Artists find each other. They migrate, they hunker down, they travel, they seek, they work.

Like Frank Swift Chase, these four women--all associated with the artist's colony at Woodstock and each a celebrated instructor at the legendary Woodstock School of Art--have found their way to Nantucket to enrich their creative lives, expand their interior landscapes, and enhance the full work lives they already lead. They strive to continue what Chase started; a close alliance between two artist communities and a willingness to share what they know, what they've discovered, and what Nantucket has meant to them.
