Yates, Colonel Julian

(1872-1953)
Yates studied at Wake Forest University and received a divinity degree from the University of Chicago, eventually becoming head chaplain of the U.S. Army. He lived at 27 India Street starting in the late ‘30’s and became the first active secretary-treasurer of the AAN in 1946. He was a popular exhibitor in the Sidewalk Art Show. The Lobster Pot Gallery held a retrospective of Yate’s work in 1961.
