Course Description

From watercolor basics through to advanced techniques of naturalism, this class is designed to give students of all levels the tools they need to paint confidently. Learn how to bring people and animals into your landscapes with just a few strokes of the right brush, thanks to tips from the masters of Impressionism. We will uncover how to render seemingly complex subjects through simple shapes; realistic light and shadow; and maximizing depth of field. With exciting warmup exercises designed to free inhibition, students will gain a more fluid expression of their marks on paper. Finally we combine multiple venues of reference including plien-air; still life; and photographs, to create next-level originality full of drama and imagination.
