Embrace innovative silk screen methods that use the “screen as a canvas” while learning printmaking basics. Color will guide the exploration as Kat demonstrates various ways that water based ink’s transparencies and opacities are affected by the process of layering. Students will work on a small unified series of prints before choosing one or two as a springboard for making silk screen monotypes. Moving beyond the even squeegeed ink swipe, you will now experiment by drawing and painting directly on your screen using different tools and media before printing unique individual prints. Whether you are new to silkscreen or looking to infuse spontaneity into your artmaking, this will be an excellent way to both challenge yourself and simply enjoy the art of printmaking. All levels welcome.
