Come investigate the many facets of fine art printmaking from woodcut and linocut, intaglio on plexiglass, and photo stencil silkscreen. Students will learn the very different ways each plate’s surface is prepared, inked, and printed, as well as how to transfer an image that is printed in reverse, harness the power of black and white with positive and negative shapes, and create nuance in mark making. Kat also will demonstrate effective techniques for using tools, mixing inks, and using a printing press with confidence to pull a series of prints. This introduction to key elements of printmaking is designed to offer a wellspring of insight into imaging making, while inviting you into the world of an active, exciting studio practice. All levels welcome.
