ART CLASSES EVENTS

Course Description

Enjoy an artistic evening in Studio 1–whether you wish to augment your AAN class with more studio time, or are looking for clean space to do your artwork in every week. We welcome artists working in pencil, ink, oil, acrylic, watercolor, fabric art, handmade jewelry, and mixed media. Elizabeth will be on hand as monitor, but there will be no instruction. Materials with fumes, like glues, turpentine, Liquin, spray fixatives, etc, and materials that kicks up dust are not allowed. Pop on your earphones, sign up with a friend for a scheduled night out, or join in the group chat and make new friends. You may arrive anytime after 5pm, but you must be completely cleaned up and out the door by 8pm. ALL LEVELS WELCOME.

Cancellation Policy

Thank you for signing up for a class. Once your class is paid for, we cannot offer a refund or credit, unless we cancel class due to low registration. Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact us BEFORE completing your payment.

Materials

Materials are not provided.
Artists can request one table or one easel with a palette cart.

PLEASE NOTE AAN’s Greener Practices:

  • Oils: Stand, Linseed, Vegetable, Walnut
  • Solvents: Galkyd or Gamsol
  • Clean up with vegetable oil and soap :
    (palettes, tables, brushes, and easels)
  • ALL Rags and Towels with Paint, Ink, and Solvents are disposed in red cans.

No

  • Turpentine, Paint Thinner, or Mineral Spirits, including odorless products
  • Fumey and Toxic Glues
  • Liquin, Varnish, Dryers, Fixatives or Aerosols

Elizabeth Congdon

Elizabeth Congdon is an oil painter best known for her floral still lifes and plein-air landscapes. She received her BA in Art at University of California at Santa Cruz, and her MFA with honors in Painting at Laguna College of Art and Design. She grew up in New York City, and later moved to Jamestown, RI, where she co-founded the Jamestown Arts Center. She has been a member of the AAN since 1998, and now is the Director of Adult Programming. She is represented on Nantucket by Robert Foster Fine Art.
