ART CLASSES EVENTS

Course Description

Artists of all levels are invited to join this session of constructive feedback and supportive critique with Artist-in-Residence Sherre Wilson Liljegren. Time will be equally divided among all participants, so please come on time and stay for the full 2 hours. You are welcome to present up to 4 artworks, and guide the discussion in a way that is helpful to you. For example, you might need technical help or ask the group for emotional responses to your work. You may bring in work that is either finished or in progress. You may attend and not present, too. This meeting of artists invites time and space to ponder possibilities and to inspire creativity, using “could’s” and not “should’s.” We will not discuss art in terms of “saleability” or any marketing strategies. The professional development focuses on ark making, creative process, and art practices. Elizabeth Congdon also will be on hand to facilitate this critique.

Monday Morning Critique

Sherre Wilson-Liljegren

Sherre Wilson Liljegren is a painter, photographer, mixed media artist, and lifelong AAN member. She received her BFA at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia in Painting and Printmaking, before earning an MS in Art Education at Massachusetts College of Art. Wilson-Liljergen has shown her work internationally, exhibiting her ethereal landscapes and interiors of Nantucket, England, Spain, Mexico, Wyoming and the Artic. In the late 90’s she revamped the adult painting classes at the Gardner-Perry facility, later serving on the AAN board from 2009 to 2018. Residencies include two Visual Artist Residency Fellowships at Vermont Studios Center, and most recently completed The Arctic Circle Residency’s Art and Science expedition to the High Arctic in 2019.
