Course Description

Find new depth in your oil painting practice through an investigation of pigments, tools, and mediums. No matter what subject and style you work in, experimentation reliably questions the default mode of all artists which inspires creative growth. Each class Elizabeth will demonstrate materials and methods for students to try out (or not). Provided in every class: a wide range of translucent pigments, oil stick crayons, cold wax, squeegees, brayers, imaginative phot references, and a variety of toned and patterned canvasses. You will be invited to answer the question “What if?” and be inspired by spontaneous surprises, happy mistakes, and the interchange of class camaraderie. This class is open to oil painters of all styles, though a basic knowledge of color mixing and application will be helpful in this journey.
