Capture the fluid language of color and reflection painting cut flowers in a vase– an artistic icon that has intrigued painters throughout the ages. Elizabeth will guide students to harness the movement and energy of the natural world through line, composition, and value to create an active canvas plain. Focus will be placed on where to establish mass or place detail, how transparent high chromatic pigments can be mixed or glazed, and ways to convey a logical light source. This three week class will offer two different studio still lifes for you to work from, whether you prefer creating a few quick studies, developing one painting over time. All levels welcome, a basic knowledge of drawing is preferable.
