Course Description

Explore all the ways to capture light with oil painting from underpainting to the final highlights. Through class demonstrations and one-to-one instruction, Christine shows students how to convey the subtleties and drama of Nantucket light, and the infinite changes that time of day and weather offer. Focus will also placed the effective use of contrasting colors, value of lights and darks, and the range of bright to muted hues. There will also be a basic introduction of using translucent pigments. ALL LEVELS WELCOME.

Christine Braunöhler

Christine - an artist of mixed media - has been oil painting for several years. Tracing three generations of oil painters on her maternal side, she was influenced by the family artwork adorning her childhood home. She loves finding the waves, or the anticipation of waves, in her landscapes. Christine resides on Nantucket where she is an educator at Nantucket Public School and mother of three boys.
