Course Description

Discover ways to create beautiful hand pulled prints from photographs with a variety of nontoxic printmaking techniques. From transfer prints to the high tech polymer gravure, Leyah guides students through these fascinating processes designed to deepen imagery with paper and ink. Novice to seasoned photographers and/or printmakers, as well as visual artists of all medias will find inspiration through the endless possibilities of image making. Whether you are learning or returning to the basics, this class invites you to start on a journey where your creative destination is yet to be imagined. AAN’s newly acquired Epson P5000 printer for Polymer Photogravure kicks off our new program for green photography and printmaking classes and workshops. ALL LEVELS WELCOME.

Materials

All materials included, but you are encouraged to digitally send your own photo references a week before this Monday class, so that your plate will be ready for you to work from before class.

Leyah Jensen Marshall

Leyah holds a BFA Honors degree from the Rhode Island School of Design. Studies in fine art have taken her worldwide, from acclaimed institutions like the Danish Design School and Pacific Northwest College of Art to Artist Residencies in India, Haiti, and Nepal. She is the recipient of distinguished awards ranging from a National Gold Medal in Art & Design (VICA) to New York Book Show 1st place winners and #1 bestselling pop-ups (New York Times). Locally she is a recipient of the Chase Plein-Air Award, and enjoys sharing her broad fluency in art mediums through teaching while working as a fine artist and children’s book creator in Nantucket.
