Course Description

Begin, or return to, your oil painting practice by focusing on the basics of how to create a compelling landscape. Through class demonstrations and one-to-one instruction, Christine Braunohler shows students how to block in forms by identifying the lights and darks of a landscape. Streamlining forms into an abstract composition, students explore how the human eye sees, ultimately applying more specific information such as expressive brushstrokes, color, and a sense of space. If you have always wanted to try landscape painting, but often felt lost, this is an excellent way to find order in the chaos of the natural world. ALL LEVELS WELCOME.
