AAN is proud to present Icons: Influential Artists from AAN's Sixty Five Year History, an exhibition of work from the Permanent Collection on view February 27 through March 22, 2010 at the Joyce & Seward Johnson Gallery. Curated by Robert Frazier, Icons features work by seventeen significant artists who shaped the arts community on Nantucket.

"For the exhibition, I focused on a handful of talented artists from a large pool who enriched the association and the island," said Robert Frazier, curator, "Some artists were movers and shakers, some were masters of their mediums, and some were luminous personalities. All were memorable figures and helped establish a strong, art-centric community on Nantucket."

The exhibition will feature work by Ruth Haviland Sutton, John Austin, Isabelle and Emerson Tuttle, Elizabeth Saltonstall, Frank Swift Chase, Fritz Eichenberg, Andrew Shunney, Donn Russell, Philip Burnham Hicken, Sybil Goldsmith, Pat Gardner, Polly and Bobby Bushong, Doris Riker Beer, and Charlotte Stuart Kimball. Visitors will enjoy groupings of each artist's work as well as photographic portraits, sketchbooks, and memorabilia.

AAN is thankful for the generous support of our exhibition sponsors: Nancy and Alan Forster, The Dillon Fund of the Boston Foundation, Killen Real Estate, and Nantucket Frameworks.

Gallery Hours: 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. daily (except Wednesday & Sunday)
