Dammin, Anita June Coffin

An original member of the Nantucket Printmakers, June Dammin was active from the ‘60’s into the ‘80’s. She recalled the ladies dressing up and having a grand time as artists. She showed at the Lobster Pot Gallery as well as the AAN, and was a member of the Copley Society in Boston.

During World War II, she traveled to Puerto Rico, joined the American Red Cross, and ran a plasma bank for the Army. After Mrs. Dammin became pregnant with her first child, she and her husband moved to Baltimore and St. Louis, before settling in Weston in the early 1950s. There, she actively pursued her dream to become an artist and began studying modern art and printmaking at Brandeis University, the DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park, and Radcliffe College.
